Packaging
I was drawn to this cushion mainly because of the simple and professional looking packaging. Similar to MAC, Espoir focus design always incorporates matte black. This concept is 100% with the Pro Tailor Cushion. The product comes in a matte black box while the product itself is encased in a lovely soft matte black compact. The overall product is very sturdy with a simple push button to open design. Nothing on this compact feels cheap or loose.

First Impressions
Well when I purchased this, I was really excited when she gave me a free refill because for the price that is a total STEAL! But I also didn’t like this because I knew none of the colors “perfectly” matched my skin tone. So this wasn’t a product I was intending to wear daily. When I first swatched the product, I was surprised at the amount of coverage it provided. Even though the item is called “Pro Tailor” I was somehow expecting it to be a light to medium coverage like most other cushions. It also had the classic floral/mature/warm fragrance that all other Espoir products have. Which can come across a bit strong smelling at times but it wears off.
Coverage & Wear
My Color: Warm Ivory
I absolutely love the coverage in this cushion. I would label it as a Foundation Cushion instead of a BB or CC cushion. It provides a medium coverage that easily in 1 extra layer becomes heavy coverage. It is super easy to blend and provides the skin with a “natural” dewy finish that leaves the skin looking soft, smooth and well hydrated! Perfect for normal and combination skin types!
When worn without a setting powder, the Espoir pro Tailor Cushion has a very long lasting power of up to 6 hours on a normal to combination skin type. However, without a setting powder, the product will smudge if you touch your face or blow your nose. So a touch up will be required. With a setting power, the products lasts a full 8 hours with no problems! You can easily get away with blowing your nose when used with a setting powder. Unless you are super aggressive, then you might need a touch up.
Skin Sensitivity
My skin type is dry to combination while being sensitive and acne prone. When wearing the Espoir Pro Tailor Cushion for a full work day. My skin did not experience any irritation or allergic reactions. When wearing it for a second full work day, I did notice I started developing small papules under this skin on my cheeks. With discontinued use, the papules faded away.
I personally am not someone who can wear foundations or bb creams easily without developing forms of acne, so for me this was no surprise especially with the amount of coverage it provided. However I was still very happy with it as small papules under the skin is far from a terrible acne breakout.
So, for people with very acne prone skin, this might cause small breakouts under the skin with day to day use. So taking breaks in between is recommend. Because of the medium to heavy coverage of this cushion, I would recommend only using it for days where you absolutely need to look fully flawless.
Recommended Application
If you are looking to wear this cushion daily while enjoy the medium coverage effect with high SPF and some skincare benefits, I would highly recommend applying this cushion while using a moist beauty blended. By using a moist beauty blender, you will be able to lightly build the coverage you need from light to heavy, allowing your skin to enjoy the product for more days out of the week with a lower chance of breakouts for anyone acne prone. This is how I personally apply this cushion 🙂
Since it is my outer cheeks that are the most acne prone, I only apply this cushion to the inside of the face and work my way out while using a moist beauty blender. This gives me the flawless dewy look I want with minimal product while providing a highlighting affect without cause papule development on my outer cheeks. Then apply to the outer area my MAC Studio Fix Plus Powder NC25, while using a small amount to set the cushion. Creating a natural highlight and contour effect while still looking slightly dewy.
Overall Opinion
This is an excellent quality cushion foundation and I highly recommend it to anyone who want diversity in their foundation collection! The Espoir Pro Tailor Cushion provides everything you would expect from its name. Great coverage, long wear, Semi dewy finish and buildable. Only downside is it can cause breakouts for those who are acne prone, however us acne prone girls out there probably already know everything will break us out, so there really is no surprise there for me.
Overall I am very happy with this purchase, I only wish it had a slightly larger color variety. Preferably a better mature for NC25-NC30 skin tones as there doesn’t seem to be a “perfect fit”.
