Hi Loves!
Today I am going to be sharing my thoughts and experience with the new Espoir Pro Tailor Liquid Foundation EX along with the Instant Spot Corrector concealer and the brush that is complimentary to the foundation.
The new foundation was supposed to give a natural skin looks while providing moisture and natural coverage. Basically second skin foundation. This foundation have 8 colors to choose from, which was a major concept selling point for the product. However compared to North America, an 8 color foundation range is nothing to brag about.
The Packaging
The foundation comes in a chic fogged glass bottle with a plastic black cap with a pump applicator. The pump is easy to work and allows you to control the amount of product easily.
The concealer is a class liquid concealer package with a doe-foot applicator. Nothing new here.
The brush has a very unique design that is meant to fit all the curves of the face for a flawless application. It is a synthetic hair brush with densely packed bristles.
The Product Reviews
Espoir Pro Tailor Liquid Foundation EX
I bought my foundation in the color Petal which is meant to suit skin tones in N23 Korean shade. I am an NC25 Mac. The Petal shade is designed to be a neutral color with both yellow and pink undertones. For me, this shade has just a little too much pink for my personal taste. However the tone is right.
The foundation has a very thin and liquid texture suitable for a minimal coverage foundation. It glides on the skin evenly and is very easy to blend with the provided brush as well as with other brushes and a beauty blender. Personally I find the formula to thin to work easily with your fingers, so using a tool with this foundation is most recommended. The coverage isn’t very buildable, making this foundation not suitable for those with skin trouble or dark acne scaring. It is most suitable for those who already have good skin and just want a foundation that will provide a skin tone evening effect that looks natural, like real skin.
The foundation has a dewy finish when applied over your morning skincare routine. However when applied over bare skin, it has a satin finish. The foundation does not adhere to the skin well, and transfers with the smallest touch, so I recommend a good primer and a good setting powder. The foundation also claims to have Longer Wear abilities however it does NOT hold up to this. I have a dry combination skin type, and this foundation did not last beyond 4 hours even with setting power used on the t-zone. By 12 hours of wear with no touching up, the foundation was very patchy, made my skin look extremely oily and had transferred off in multiple areas.
Irritation wise, in 1 day of use this foundation caused me to develop small pustules all over my cheeks and chin. For my sensitive skin this foundation gave me lots of irritation. I am considering this to be because of the ridiculous amount of fragrance in the product. The foundation has a very very strong floral scent to it, which is over powering and not needed.
Overall
This foundation was a huge disappointment, especially for the amount of advertisement they have for it, this foundation did not in any way live up to its ads or claims. Crazy amount of fragrance, very irritating for sensitive skin, has no long wear ability like it claimed, transfers easily. Only suitable for normal to dry skin types and those who already have good skin. Not suitable for acne prone or sensitive skin types.
Espoir Instant Spot Corrector Concealer (Korea Only)
This concealer comes in only 2 colors, I got my color in Light which is the lightest shade. This shade was shocking to me as I was planning to use it as a highlighting concealer for my dark circles, however the lightest color suits my skin color perfectly. Which is shocking for the lightest color in the collection. My skin tone is about NC25 mac and N23 in Korea. For this being the lightest concealer, it is a bit disappointing, making it only good for facial spot coverage and not the under eye area.
The concealer has a medium coverage that is not easily buildable, however it works very well to hide redness and dark pigmentation. It has a very skin-like texture making it amazing at covering dry skin and pimples. The formula does not cling to dry patches, making it look very natural. The concealer has a thin texture that blends very easily making it ideal to work with. It then dries to a semi matte finish.
Formula wise, this concealer has the same fragrance as the foundation however much less. So far it has not caused me to break out, but I am not a fan of the fragrance and wish Espoir did not add any.
Overall
This concealer is excellent for covering redness and medium pigmentation issues. But it is not good for the under eye area is you like a lighter concealer for the under eyes. The 2 shade range is very poor as the lightest shade only suits an N23 (NC25) skin tone. The fragrance is strong and unnecessary, making it not suitable for sensitive skin types. However because this concealer did not break me out, I actually really like it as a skin perfecting concealer. I Actually like to use it in place of bb or foundation sometimes since it blends out nicely and looks very natural. This is a concealer I do recommend for those with simple skin issues to conceal.
Espoir Pro Tailor EX Brush (Out of Stock?)
This brush is newly launched with the foundation and are recommended to be used together. This is something I do agree with as this brush does work amazingly with the foundation. It distributes the foundation wonderfully and its unique curved design makes it easy to blend product into the hard to reach areas of the face. It has synthetic hairs making it good for foundations, especially liquid ones. The are no-errors or complaints for this brush as it is fun, unique and works to its claims.
